On the Courts
Happy New Year, It is hard to believe that another year is upon us.
The Tennis Committee – (Carole Tiemeyer, Craig Ellis, Jane Covington and Brendan Clancy) met on December 8th. We discussed dates for the 2010 Program and Calendar plus some ideas on what we can do to enhance the grounds around the courts. The Committee discussed lengthening the club championships, adding a Mixed Doubles Member-Guest Tournament, placing out a larger trash receptacle, adding a recycling bin, and a container for used tennis balls plus more benches on the courts.
Please be sure to contact me or anyone on the tennis committee with suggestions, thoughts or ideas that would enhance the Tennis Programs at Keswick.
This is the time of the year I take time off. Please be sure to call the Tennis Shop and listen to the voice message to see if I am on property or on vacation. When I am off, please contact the golf shop at 923-4363 and press 1. They will be more than happy to help you with court reservations or the purchasing of tennis balls.
Help! Photos needed…..I welcome all Keswick Tennis photos that anyone happens to take during the year. If you wouldn’t mind downloading them and then sending them to me through an e-mail, that would be great. I want to be able to put as many photos in the newsletters as possible and also make collages to be posted on the bulletin boards throughout the year.
USTA Leagues:
It is time for us to be thinking about forming the teams for the 2010 season. Keswick will be offering the following teams.
Adult Leagues: Women’s 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0
Men 3.5 and 4.0
Adult Mixed: 7.0 and 8.0
Senior Leagues: This is for those of you that are closing in on the age of 50 in 2010 or may be older.
Women: 3.5
Men: 4.0
Combo Leagues: Women: 6.5 and 7.5
Men: 7.5
Combo Mixed: 7.5 and 8.5
These teams are competitive teams and should be made up of the exact NTRP rating whenever possible. If a team is struggling to form, USTA Rules state that players at a lower NTRP rating may play up a level to help formulate a team. Please let me know by January 15th if you are interested in playing league tennis and what team level you would like to play.
Let’s get Fit Together now for Tennis in the spring of 2010!
Fitness is one of the most important elements of any sport and tennis isn’t any different. Too often I hear players say that they are using tennis to get in shape, but in actuality we should all be getting into better shape to play tennis.
Beginning in January and running until the middle of March, I am offering fitness training for tennis for those that are interested in getting together in small groups or one on one. This will improve your tennis and health for a lifetime. Please let me know if you are interested and I will build a program around your needs as a tennis player. 923-4344 or nholt@keswick.com
